District Boundaries and Elementary School Boundaries:

The 50 square miles of the school district cover the entire city of Derby and beyond into large portions of Sedgwick County. The Oaklawn/Sunview area, McConnell Air Force Base (MAFB), Towne Parc, Oak Knoll and Salem Township are all included in the Derby district. View our boundary map and please call our Transportation Center at (316) 788-8450 with any questions.

Enrollment Information:
If you are arriving in Derby during the middle of a school year, you will first need to contact the specific attendance center your student will attend. They will give you the appropriate instructions for enrolling your child. If you are arriving in Derby during the summer, you will enroll your student with all of the other students for the new year. Enrollment, depending on school, is usually late July and into early August. The Enrollment Update newsletter will be mailed to all postal customers at the beginning of July to inform parents and students of what they need to know for the upcoming enrollment. Enrollment information for the upcoming school year will also be posted on the Derby Schools Homepage as it becomes available. Restricted Out of District Enrollment is accepted until September 20 of the current school year. Click to download an Out of District Waiver form.  Also, please visit the 2010-2011 Enrollment Information page for specific enrollment dates and information.

Derby Preschool Information:
Derby offers an Early Childhood Disability (ECD) program that utilizes "peer models," and more information can be found by contacting our Educational Support Center (316) 788-8460 or your child's future attendance center. Derby provides FREE preschool screenings throughout the school year. If you have a preschool child, age birth to five, who is having difficulty walking, talking, seeing, hearing, or learning, call (316) 788-8460 and schedule a free appointment (see schedule). USD 260 also works with The Opportunity Project (TOPS) to provide a pre-kindergarten program for "at risk" four year-olds. Call (316) 749-4901 for more information on TOPS.

Transcripts and Student Records:

District Report Card:
The Kansas State Department of Education annually compiles data to provide information on a district level. Please click here to visit the KSDE site.

Inclement Weather Information:

USD 260 has designated certain entrances of buildings to be the primary entrances during or right after periods of inclement winter weather.  These entrances will be the first areas to be cleared of snow and ice, and they will be the best places for students, faculty, and guests to enter the building.

Textcaster:

Derby schools uses a text-messaging technology called DERBY ALERTS TextCaster, which alerts subscribers when a variety of events occur in a matter of moments. In addition to emergency messages, USD 260 is also using the system to broadcast other important news like school closings, early dismissals, calendar updates, and event reminders. With cell phone access almost universal among students and parents, the uses of TextCaster are only limited by how each school wants to use the technology.
Derby Public schools'  invites patrons to sign-up, where the opt-in process begins for the service, and you are able to choose the messages or alerts you want. Messages can be sent on a district wide basis, school-by-school, or even directly to parents and students if a school chooses. Subscribers can choose to receive text and/or email message alerts. DERBY ALERTS is a free service sponsored by Valley State Bank. Please check your cell phone plan for any text message fees your wireless provider may charge.
