Free Summer Meal Program June 5-July 28
With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children eating healthy while school is out. Derby Public Schools is providing FREE meals to children during the summer.
This summer, meals will be served in the cafeteria at Derby Middle School, 801 E. Madison, June 5-July 28, Monday-Friday from 11:00AM-1:00PM. No meals will be served July 3-4. There are no income requirements, address stipulations or registration. Any child age 1-18 may come to eat.
Each year, the United States Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Derby Public Schools to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.
“We are very excited to offer our first summer feeding site in Derby this summer,” Martha Lawson, Food Service Supervisor, said. “Boys and Girls Club has provided a summer meal program in Oaklawn for several years and will again this summer May 30-July 28, but this is our first time offering this program in Derby.”
